Zithromax - antibiotic of a wide spectrum of action. Antibiotic-azalide, a representative of a new subgroup of macrolide antibiotics. In the focus of inflammation it has a bactericidal effect. For the active ingredient of Zithromax, Azithromycin, all the gram-positive cocci (except those bacteria which are resistant to erythromycin) are susceptible.

Drug uses

Zithromax is a bacteriostatic antimicrobial agent from the macrolide antibiotics group. Zithromax has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity and can be prescribed for antibiotic treatment at any age.

Zithromax is effective in treatment of tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, bacterial bronchitis, community pneumonia, and other acute infectious diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract.

In addition to acute infections, Zithromax can be used in antibacterial therapy for pelvic inflammatory disease, urethritis, genital ulcer disease in men, chlamydia trachomatis conjunctivitis, cervicitis, soft tissue and skin infections.

Zithromax daily dose for adults varies at the range of 250 mg to 2000 mg.

The daily Zithromax dose for children depends on their weight and should not exceed 30 mg per kilogram of body weight.

Dosage adjustment is not required in elderly people and patients with moderate hepatic and kidney impairment. A successful treatment of bacterial infection requires strict compliance with the dosing regimen of Zithromax.

Missed dose

If you missed a single Zithromax dose, the missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. The next Zithromax (Azithromycin) dose should be taken with an interval of 24 hours.

Zithromax antibiotic can be used in combination with other drugs having antibacterial, germicidal, antiviral and antifungal activity. Including Zithromax into the combined anti-infective therapy may require daily dose correction of all medicines used.

Zithromax film-coated tablets should be stored at controlled room temperature below 30°C (below 86°F).
